One Heart Source is a collective movement comprised of the students, volunteers, donors, parents, staff, family, friends, artists, community members who make our vision a reality. Since 2008, the transformative partnerships created by OHS volunteer programs have resulted in nearly one thousand volunteers from around the world connecting with people in the villages of Tanzania and townships of South Africa.
Volunteers have spanned from the age of 16-50, hailed from dozens of countries, and countless walks of life. Regardless of any presuppositions about the barriers that divide us, we strive to embody the simple truth that people just need to be people for true change to occur. Our ethos draws from the wisdom of the greats who came before us:
In order to cultivate leaders of character and integrity as our collective grows, OHS inaugurated the OHS Global Leaders Fellowship series in 2014 – a leadership pipeline of successive annual Fellowships that allows past volunteers to journey deeper into developing themselves as human beings in the pursuit of social justice.
The ONE, HEART, and SOURCE Fellowships together comprise a three-year series that will empower a new generation of social entrepreneurs to design, develop, and lead life changing and paradigm shifting global systems.
Fellows are given the training and opportunity to CO-MANAGE, CO-LEAD, and then CO-FOUND an in-field OHS project that delivers a significant humanitarian contribution to the communities we serve while collaboratively learning to navigate diverse cultures, socioeconomic forces, and education, health, and human rights concerns.
The mission and vision of One Heart Source extends beyond the confines of any particular region or sector, as vulnerable populations continue to be marginalized globally and ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere’. We believe we will change the world, or spark the mind that does.
